Paris: Various Sights

Besides the major sights such as the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, etc. there were many other interesting sights in Paris. Of particular beauty was the Galeries Lafayette which is a very large, very upscale shopping mall. It is enclosed with a beautiful stained glass dome. Other sights included the square where the guillotine carried out its grisly work during the French Revolution, the very impressive Grand Palais which was built for the 1900 Worlds Fair, and many pastry shops with their goodies.

  • A view from the Arc de Triomphe.  Our apartment was down the avenue on the right.  We were a 3 minutes walk from the Arc and subway station.  We rode the subway everyday to see different Paris sights.
  • At our apartment building entrance.  Our apartment was on the third floor and served by a tiny 2-person elevator.  That is the "Yuppies" Restaurant next door.
